Apple is making a bold move into the world of artificial intelligence with the announcement of several new AI features and Teams Up with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. This groundbreaking collaboration was revealed at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday afternoon.

This highly anticipated partnership marks a significant step for Apple, a company previously seen by analysts as lagging behind other tech giants like Microsoft and Google in the AI arena.

With this deal, Apple’s vast user base will gain access to OpenAI’s cutting-edge technology. OpenAI, renowned for its advancements in artificial intelligence, has already secured high-profile partnerships, including a substantial deal with Microsoft.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s software chief, announced that OpenAI’s technology will be integrated into Apple’s digital assistant, Siri. This integration will enable users to seek assistance with tasks such as finding recipe ideas, decorating rooms, or composing stories.

This announcement comes amid the rapid growth and occasional controversies within the AI sector. AI tools and chatbots have faced challenges such as hallucinations, plagiarism, and providing incorrect or biased information. OpenAI itself has faced allegations, including accusations of copying actress Scarlett Johansson’s voice without consent.

Following Apple’s announcement, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed his excitement on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Very happy to be partnering with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into their devices later this year! Think you will really like it.”

In tandem with this partnership, Apple is introducing Apple Intelligence, its proprietary generative AI software.
