Canva Launches Enterprise-Grade Design Platform for Businesses

In 2019, Canva, the highly successful design tool, introduced an enterprise product. However, it is suited more for teams than meeting actual enterprise requirements. On Thursday, Canva announced a new version specifically designed for larger organizations.

This new enterprise version includes features expected in such products, like single sign-on, enhanced security offerings, and tools for managing large user groups that IT departments require. It also offers centralized brand management and dedicated support.

Cam Adams, co-founder and CPO of Canva explained that in 2019, their focus was on transitioning from supporting mostly individual users to small teams of five to 100 users. Over the years, they noticed that many larger organizations were using Canva and recognized the need for a product tailored to these more prominent companies’ requirements.

We now have cohorts with up to 5,000 people using Canva within an enterprise. Because of that, we needed to develop a new type of Canva enterprise product to meet these larger groups’ needs. That’s what we’ve done with Canva Enterprise,” Adams told TrendbyUS.

This new version addresses three specific challenges Canva identified as it expanded into larger organizations.

First, design now spans multiple departments and industries. Second, with the proliferation of AI tools, CIOs are increasingly concerned about “AI tool creep.” Finally, as more departments get involved in the design process and AI becomes more prevalent, there’s a need for a tool that can handle user management and facilitate workflow across different teams.

We’re no longer just thinking about empowering individuals. Our focus for Canva’s second decade is on empowering entire organizations. We aim to integrate all these fragmented processes into a single platform,” Adams said.

The previous version will now be a proper team product, priced at $100 per seat per year with a three-person minimum. The new enterprise pricing is $300 per seat annually, with volume-based discounts available.

Founded in 2012, the Australian company has raised over $560 million, most recently at a remarkable $26 billion valuation. Canva now boasts over 180 million monthly users worldwide.
