Lionel Messi has made a much-anticipated return from injury, reclaiming his spot in Inter Miami’s starting lineup against DC. United this Saturday. The league leaders have unveiled their starting eleven, with Messi’s name shining prominently.

Joining Messi on the field are fellow Argentines Tomás Avilés, Nicolás Freire, Marcelo Weigandt, and Benjamin Cremaschi, highlighting the strong South American influence within the squad. The 36-year-old Argentina captain had suffered an injury during the first half of Inter Miami’s 3-2 victory over Montreal last weekend.

“He received a knock to the knee which troubled him until yesterday,” revealed coach Martino. Inter Miami currently dominates the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 28 points from 14 matches, holding a slender one-point lead over second-placed Cincinnati, who have a game in hand.

Messi’s return is expected to bolster the team as they aim to maintain their top position.
